As you know, the world-wide spread of the Coronavirus has disrupted travel plans and caused the cancellation of events throughout the world ranging from conferences to baseball games. And while there is some talk of it receding during the summer, there is equal talk of it returning even stronger in the fall.
Therefore, and with great reluctance, on behalf of the Board of Directors I am cancelling the annual conference scheduled for November in New Orleans. I know this will be a big disappointment to many, but given the situation we really have no choice. Even if the virus appears to be in decline then, it is unclear how easy or desirable it will be to travel. In addition, people need a reasonable amount of time to plan a trip and there is no guarantee that they will have that time.
I hope that you will understand and support this decision. And I hope you will join with me in looking forward with great anticipation to our 2021 conference in Quebec City, Canada!
With my best Napoleonic wishes,
Edna Markham, President
